Allergy Connection

Patient of the Month

Many of our patients (both children and adults) show determination and discipline in working through unique challenges. Through the “Patient of the Month,” we share their triumphs.

Each month, we will feature a different patient of whom we are particularly proud. These stories indicate the wide variety of conditions that can be related to various forms of allergies.

This Month's Patient is...
MARSHALL

Children

B.J. -- B.J. is a nine-year old boy who was initially evaluated on November 10, 1997. His parents' chief concern focused on mood swings and a decreased attention span.

Crystal -- Crystal's case is an excellent example of how multiple treatment modalities (including the Feingold diet, immunotherapy and Ritalin) can effectively treat ADHD type behavior and sensory integration issues, such as phobias, sleep problems and hearing sensitivity.

Jake -- Jake's case (a three-year-old with severe behavior problems) typifies the profound impact that food allergies can have on a child's behavior.

Steve -- A four-year-old boy with speech delay and difficult behavior who has responded nicely to appropriate allergy treatment.

Tom -- After a coordinated treatment of his allergies and ADD, Tom now enjoys improved physical and emotional health.

Carl -- A nine-year-old boy, Carl has been through a lot. Diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder and prescribed Ritalin, Carl's history points out very clearly that complex medical disorders often have complex underlying causes.

Adults

Carol
-- Carol is a 29-year old female patient who was initially seen in April 1998 with the chief complaint of depression. During her childhood, she experienced hayfever discomforts, including itchy etes, chronic nasal symptoms (especially in the spring) and fatigue. She also had dark circles under her eyes for her entire life.

Phyllis -- Phyllis is a 47 year-old female who was initially seen by me in the fall of 1995 with a number of medical diagnoses including allergies, fatigue, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, headaches, recurrent infections, and a history of Lyme Disease.

Terry -- Terry is a 19 year-old female who I started seeing when she was 16. Her diagnoses when initially seen by me included allergies, Bi-Polar disorder, fatigue, headaches, Hypothyroidism, allergic cough, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, history of recurrent ear infections, Premenstrual Syndrome, and possible Tourette's Syndrome.

Will -- Will is a 59 year-old male who was initially seen by me in the spring of 1991. His chief complaint was chronic Sinusitis, "personality change" with allergic reactions.
